Election 2008

I just HAVE to post an entry about the election.

Barack Obama

I voted for him and I'm happy that he won. I thought McCain was just another Bush and Palin was simply a bimbo. Yet, I'm not going to spend the rest of this entry insulting them. This is about Obama.

Its fascinating to me that Obama is our first African-American president (AND HE'S BI-RACIAL LIKE ME, in case you didn't know). People keep bringing up the history of African-Americans and their fight for civil rights. It only shows that America is much less a racist country than it was decades ago. I swear, if McCain had won I would have thought most people were still prejudice against blacks!

Heh, that election went by really fast. I thought it was going to be another tight race but this one went by really quick. Obama was obviously more popular than McCain. In fact, early on, I was getting worried about Obama not winning.

Am I hoping for change? Yes I am. Doesn't everyone hope for change? Yet, we're not going to know what Obama will do until January.

Proposition 8

I had been worried for days that Prop 8 was going to pass, banning same-sex marriages in California. I had a good reason to stay worried because it did past! I am devastated with Californians right now. Are heterosexuals too selfish to let homosexuals get married? Did they really believe the lies those "Yes on 8" commercials advertised? Or are they simply homophobic?

Because of Obama's win, people think that civil rights have finally been fulfilled in the US. It has not! The LGBT community still hasn't earned their rights. They have been struggling for decades too. To me, only when they earn the right to marry is when LGBT rights will be established. After all, being attracted to someone of the same sex is what makes them homosexuals.

One thing that gives me hope is the fact that the Prop 8 results, compared to 2000's Prop 22's, shows that much more people voted against the ban than before. This proves that California is becoming more accepting of the LGBT community than previous years. This change is a good sign. I hope we get better.

My MySpace Bulletin

This morning, after the election, I posted this bulletin:

"That's It!"

I'm moving to San Francisco so I can be as liberal and gay* as I want! I'm tired of being in a minority that believes in gay rights here in SoCal.
I want to be in a MAJORITY!!!

No really, I'm able to go there. Since I'm in community college right now, I can simply transfer to a school there (Academy of Art University because they accept anyone who breathes). Plus, I have relatives there, but I wouldn't want to live with them regardless if I have too...

*I'm not a homosexual. I'm straight but I strongly believe in gay rights.
